Vitamin D Deficiency
Dr. Owen, Chiropractic Physician has had over 20 years of seeing patients’ health improve with vitamin D supplementation. People need sunlight to have good health. The body is able to convert sunlight into Vitamin D, people with darker skin are just plain not as good at it.
So bad in fact that a survey by Science Direct found that Black Americans had an average of only 3% of required Vitamin D levels, the average American only 23 percent (1). 23 percent is a little more than 7 times the Vitamin D as Blacks. Blacks are dying from Covid-19 at 7 times the rate as whites.
When the flu of 1918 was genetically engineered and studied, scientists found the cause of high fatality could be attributed to Vitamin D deficiency. (2) Facts are that most pre-existing conditions that have caused the high death rate from Covid-19 in Black Americans could be caused by Vitamin D deficiency. —NOT FRIED CHICKEN!! People with more melanin in their skin need about 5 -6 times more time in the sun to get the same blood levels as of Vitamin D as people with very fair skin.

In Fall the Flu season starts again due to shorter days combined with daylight savings time, resulting in decreased sunlight. Thus, the flu season starts again. This is the reason why health experts expect a resurgence of Covid-19 in the fall.

Clearly, we need the sun to live. Staying indoors and not taking Vitamin D is downright Dangerous, and expensive since clearly Vitamin D deficiency can cause a variety of health conditions that most probably will be attributed to fried chicken if you have darker skin.
The average medical Doctor gets lot of education on saving lives in the emergency room and treatment of critically ill patients but less than 25 hours of nutrition education. These are the people determining public policy. Could they be missing the ball? While your grandmother gets is getting right, with her vitamin C, Curcumin and ginger (all been scientifically proven to work better than the drug Remdesivir) which cuts the time you are ill by about a third, but does not decrease the death rate. Why so much excitement about a drug that will make absolutely no difference as to weather you live or die? Vitamin D will definitely make a difference, so will zinc, so will vitamin C so will your vitamin Bs. All are going to work better than stupid Remdesivir.
I haven’t found a single vitamin that doesn’t work better than Remdesivir. Why aren’t we following the science? Severe widespread vitamin D deficiency is weakening the population. In tropics, in places like Jamaica, and Trinnidad, the summer flu season begins in the summer because of the rainy season people stay indoors more. I am so sure where we in South Florida are going to fall. Hopefully we are all getting a lot of sun.
It is very common to see patients supplementing with vitamin D not finding their levels go up on their blood work. Vitamin D can be made from substances like coal tar. Generally, a good vitamin D should be in emulsified. If it is emulsified in a multivitamin it will say so on the label.
