How to Tell if Your Child has Been Injured in A Car Accident!

child concussion auto injury

The basic rule is if an Adult in the accident has been injured the child in the same accident has been injured worse!  Signs that your child should be checked by a chiropractor that specializes in pediatric auto injury treatment include:

Changes in sleep patterns

The child begins to perform poorly in school

The child begins to feel tired all the time

Behavior changes

Child complains of pain or headaches

Child no longer plays normally

You were in the accident and sustained injuries

Clumsiness

Relationship problems with friends and family

Child holding their head often

A child begins hitting their head against anything

Idiopathic Pains

Child Hospitalized, doctors can’t find the cause.

Gradual onset of digestive disorders

Headaches

Ear infections

Muscular-skeletal pain of any kind such as neck, shoulder, arm, leg, knee, hand or lower back pain.

During an automobile accident, your child’s head is whipped back and forth at great speed.  When this happens to a child’s young developing brain and spine it causes more injuries than the same forces would inflict on an adult.   Auto Injuries often cause decreased blood flow to a child’s brain this can result in impairment until the situation is corrected by chiropractic adjustment.  Not getting your child checked following an auto injury can result in a lifetime of health problems and learning difficulties.

BUT MY PEDIATRICIAN SAID OUR CHILD WAS FINE!

Most Pediatricians have little experience detecting or treating auto injuries or the subluxations that can result from trauma.  Subluxations are misalignments in the spine that impinge nerves and compromise the function of the nervous system and cause a myriad of health problems.

Your car insurance covers up to 10,000 in medical treatment for injuries to yourself and your child each.  According to a recent Florida law, you must see a medical provider such as Dr. Lisa Owen within 2 weeks of the accident or lose your Personal Injury Protection benefits.  Please call our office if you have any questions, tell us about your child, (954)774-8848.
